I received my Bachelors Degree in Child & Family Services from Iowa State University. I began my career working as a Child Welfare Specialist, and continued on my professional journey as the director of a preschool specializing in early childhood programs.
I currently serve as an Instructor of Parent Education at a local hospital, as well as a Lactation Consultant for the county health department, as well as several local pediatric clinics. In addition to my Bachelor's degree, I have earned the distinguished qualifications of an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), an International Certified Childbirth Educator (ICCE), and a Certified Parenting Counts Educator (CPCE).
With a professional dedication to enhancing the lives of children, I have recognized the importance of childbirth and its direct relationship to family development. The important role a parent plays in a child's life is often overlooked. We tend to focus first on pregnancy and the physical changes that occur, then we are so consumed by the transition of caring for a child that we tend to forget how critical and everlasting our parenting will become in the lives of our children.
Families are born during pregnancy and it is in those early days and weeks of parenting that you can really begin to affect your child. In the first three years of life you will mold your child into the person they will become. My goal is to inspire, inform and encourage parents on this journey. I can help you understand how this child will grow, how their brain develops, and how to use self control and modeling to guide their behavior. By giving our children good strong roots, they will grow with self confidence and flourish into responsible, well adjusted people.
In addition to my professional asperations, I am a mom of three wonderful girls, wife and teammate to Tom, manager of a household, counselor, instructor, and supporter of all Moms and Dads beginning to Hatch their own Families.
